Results of participation of the Asian countries in the World SAMBO Championship (Prague, November 7-11th, 2007)

The World Championship of sport and combat SAMBO was held in Prague, Czech Republic from 7-th to 11-th of November 2007. The highlight of FIAS competition calendar, received more than 780 participants representing 43 countries (including 17 Asian countries). This record number of countries marks a milestone of international development of SAMBO made just for the last two years. Both the FIAS & ASF congress were held during the championship.

1.FIAS Congress
Members of the Congress recognized and granted full membership to the following Asian countries:
1. India
2. Indonesia
3. Lebanon
4. Malaysia
5. Nepal (in absentia) – provisional member
6. Pakistan
7. Singapore
8. Syria
9. Thailand (in absentia) – provisional member
10. Yemen

The admission of new member countries to the FIAS fulfills the main IOC requirement for recognition, bringing the total number of FIAS members to 75 countries. It is necessary to stress that Asia has made significant contribution in fulfilling above mentioned requirement.

2. Election of the 1-st FIAS Vice-President (SAMBO Development).
The FIAS Congress also recognized active role of the newly admitted Members were played for SAMBO development in their respective countries. This increase in activity was credited to the efforts of Mr. Fazliddin Pulatov who personally championed the SAMBO cause.

In view of his success of SAMBO development in Asia, FIAS Members of the Congress supported the proposal of FIAS President Mr. David Rudman and unanimously elected Mr. Fazliddin Pulatov as the 1-st Vice-President (SAMBO Development).
Calendar of ASFcompetitions.

The ÀSF calendar for the next 4 years was discussed and approved. In connection with the offer of the President of Kazakhstan SAMBO Federation M.Undaganov about covering all expenses connected with participation of ASF new members the Organizing Committee selected Aktjube (Kazakhstan) as a hosting city of Asian Championship in 2008.

The Asian Championship-2009 will be hosted by Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and in 2010 in Singapore.
